CORRECTIVE ACTION

4 Ws and 1 H

Have you ever had a facility who had a difficult time developing a Corrective Action Plan and they were unsure what details to include?

As a sponsoring organization, you can make this process easier, by providing a structured method of developing Corrective Action Plans to your facilities which includes using 4 Ws and 1 H.

Developing Corrective Action Plans Using 4 Ws and 1 H

Let’s begin by defining what a Corrective Action Plan is.

A Corrective Action Plan is a written response that details the specific action the facility will take within a specified time frame to fully and permanently correct the noncompliance.

It is required to address program findings and to maintain program compliance.

A Corrective Action Plan works by documenting and implementing new or improved processes or procedures within a specific time frame and it is expected to resolve the noncompliance and prevent it from recurring.

The Corrective Action Plan also identifies who is responsible for implementing and maintaining the new processes or procedures, and when the corrective action will be implemented.

When working on Corrective Action Plans, facilities may sometimes have to write new policies, processes or procedures or update old ones to make them better.
