ACTIVITY
DO YOU SEE ANY RED FLAGS?
Let’s take a deeper dive. If it appears that the number of participants in attendance daily exceeds the number of participants enrolled, what would you do?
STEPS
Let’s explore some steps a sponsoring organization should follow:
-
1Reconcile daily attendance to enrollment.
-
2Once the enrolled participants that were in attendance during the review period have been identified, reconcile the daily number of enrolled participants in attendance daily to the number of meals claimed each day by meal type.
-
3Does the number of meals claimed each day by meal type exceed the number of participants enrolled and in attendance?
-
4If yes, investigate why.
SCENERIO 2
In Scenario 2 it appears that the number of daily meal counts exceeded the number of participants in attendance daily. This is a red flag because at face value it suggests that meals may be claimed for reimbursement is higher than the number of participants in attendance each day. If a participant is not in attendance, then they cannot be served a meal.
What would you do if you experienced this?
